“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
— Philippians 4:4 · NIV
Paul wrote that from a prison cell, which should stop us pretending joy needs good conditions. He doesn't say rejoice in the situation. He says rejoice in the Lord — and He hasn't changed since yesterday. That's the whole trick. Joy tied to circumstances rises and falls with them. Joy tied to Christ holds when nothing else does.
Jesus, I choose joy today — not because things are good, but because You are.
